YU-Einstein Medical Scholars Program

A partnership between Yeshiva University and Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM) that provides a select number of high school seniors a premier Honors undergraduate education at YU, followed by early assurance to medical school training at AECOM pending fulfillment of program requirements.

OVERVIEW

  • High school senior applicants should have a demonstrable interest in medicine and be certain that medicine is the lifetime career they want to pursue.
    The interest may be demonstrated in a variety of ways, including significant medical-related volunteer hours, personal experiences that focus on medicine, experience with healthcare providers and institutions and/or bio medical research
  • YU-Einstein Medical Scholars will be encouraged to explore a wide range of Yeshiva liberal arts and sciences majors, to acquire a broad-based education that can be applied to the study of modern medical science 
  • Students should display commitment to service and community through their extra-curricular activities 
  • Applicants will be required to respond to the following supplemental questions:

    • Many students who declare themselves ‘pre-med’ at the undergraduate level, eventually select a different career path. What is your motivation to choose a career in Medicine and what makes you confident in that career choice?
    • Describe your activities that have influenced your decision to pursue a career in Medicine.
    • Why are you interested in attending AECOM, and how would attending AECOM satisfy your specific interests, goals, and aspirations?
    • Describe what attracts you to spend your pre-med, undergraduate education at Yeshiva University.
    • Please share with us anything about yourself that you would like us to know. (optional)

ELIGIBILITY

  • Students must apply and be accepted to Yeshiva University Honors.
  • Applicants must earn a minimum SAT score of 1460 (combined Critical Reading and Math) or a minimum ACT score of 32.
  • United States Citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents (not pending or conditional), Asylee Status students and International students are eligible to apply.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Maintain a science GPA of 3.75 and an overall GPA of 3.75
  • Take 32 credits of core, pre-med courses (BCPM) at Yeshiva University
  • Participate in scientific and/or clinical research during the summers between academic years, at AECOM, Yeshiva University, or elsewhere, as approved by the Director of the Medical Scholars Program
  • Seek opportunities for community service in underserved areas, special needs camps, as extra-curricular activities, or in other appropriate venues
  • Take the MCAT prior to October preceding the year of matriculation or of the academic year in which formal application to AECOM will take place, and receive a minimum score of 515
    The MCAT may be taken more than once
