Senator Joseph Lieberman-Mitzner Scholars Program
The Senator Joseph Lieberman-Mitzner Center for Public Service and Advocacy Scholars Program offers a transformative experience that prepares scholarship students to become visionary leaders, effective advocates and catalysts for positive change in the public sector. This meticulously crafted, highly selective program offers a unique blend of real-world exposure to politicians and leaders in advocacy, setting it apart as the premier public service leadership incubator for the next generation of political leaders.

OVERVIEW
Individuals are encouraged and empowered to actively participate in the democratic process, advocate for meaningful social change, and exemplify leadership with integrity and empathy for the United States, the American Jewish community, Israel, and beyond. Our call to public service is firmly anchored in our Jewish values, in the mission of Yeshiva University, and in the moral and ethical imperative to move history forward by actively promoting justice and contributing to the well-being of society.
Applicants will be required to respond to the following supplemental questions:
- If you could give a speech to the most influential lawmakers of the United States advocating in support of Israel and American Jewish life, what would you say?
- Describe one political leader (past or present) that you admire and explain clearly what and why you admire about them and their work.
ELIGIBILITY
- Students must apply and be accepted to Yeshiva University Honors
- Applicants should exhibit leadership potential through extracurricular activities and community involvement
- Students should demonstrate a deep commitment and interest in public policy, government, history, or related areas through politics or advocacy

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
- Completion of at least one summer internship in the public service or advocacy spaces
- One Honors course in political science or a related area (e.g. economics, policy) per year
- Attendance of co-curricular workshops (approximately once per month)
- Completion of a thesis on a topic related to political science, political leadership, advocacy and related fields, or related to the student’s summer internship program
